Daffodils Blooming in a Pot
It's still overcast. Water puddles on the sidewalk and turns brown. A plastic fork, a paper napkin, a potato chip bag (all curiously starting with the letter P) glow up at me like zombies from under the murky water. I can't definitively remember the last time it rained. But it must have been recent and it must have been often.
That's winter. A bland resignation towards gloomy weather. You expect it. And that's fine.
Then one morning you are grabbing breakfast, and there smiling into your retina, are daffodils blooming in a pot. The yellow is so bright it seems impossible. The heavy gray air will suffocate it out. But the next morning, the daffodil is still there. There and bigger even, with a little sister blooming beside it.
It's spring and I never get tired of it because it makes me proud to be alive.
Is it queer that I should feel such an affinity for all things decidedly natural, as I am by nature of my genesis, entirely un-natural? I suppose appreciation for life is innate in anything alive. No matter how it was created. Or maybe, I've just been almost-dead too many times not to relish living.

i wish it were like that here in maine, my entire driveway is mud. no joke, the mud is up to the hubcaps on my brother's f-150, if that tells you anything. if we're lucky we will see green grass by maybe june 30, yeah we still have like 4 feet of snow in our yard.

I just watched Lord of the Rings Return of the King. Well... not all of it, but almost to the end. I have to wait for my brother to finish it. Awesome movie (so far). Really looooong, though. I think Sam is awesome. Frodo is too. (by the way no offence if I'm spelling the names wrong. I watched the movies, haven't read the books. I'm planning to though...)

Well we know that you're not in the south. Here in Texas, spring is over and done with and we are well into summer with the temps in the high 70's, and low 80's at times.
And by the way, Max was right, you do have some serious poetry in you.

Emotional; don't you think? JK. I totally understand where you are coming from. Nature is so natural and many things these days aren't. Why we are draining the life out of everything is totally unclear to me. Cloning, making new spices, and I could name a whole lot of other things. But I do have to say one thing I think they can't change is my sprit. When I think about it that is the only thing that can keep us alive; standing up for what we believe and what we feel. What helps me is looking up at the sky, the stars, all of that just makes me feel free. I can’t stand crowds. I guess that’s why I like openness of it so much. But anyways spring is also one of those seasons that make you think and just make you appreciate things.

Oooo Daffodils are my favorite. There seem to be hundreds blooming out in my yard and everytime I look out the window I smile. I can't believe the wonderful weather we're having and I won't stop spending time outside.

Wow, that was very poetic! (and as i read the other comments, i feel very unoriginal...) but that does seem like a good thing to comment about. I love spring too. I love the trees when they are budding, i think it's beautiful. my brother is allergic to the blooming though. so i guess with beauty comes pain. (and now i'm feeling extremely unoriginal again. sigh)
Okay I have some hopefully good advice for max. I don't know about other people but I'm getting tired of Max running away from fang. (I'm sure he is to.) You guys obviously like each other. Don't try to deny it cause' you'll just embarass yourself Max. If you didn't like each other, I'm pretty sure it would have turned into a fist fight already. (If it hasn't already.) Just trust your self and trust him. If you don't have any idea what your doing,well then you'll only have joined all of the non bird people who don't have any idea what their doing. Sometimes you just have to try things out. It won't kill you. Oh, and no I do not read the stupid teen magazines that give advice like the above. I'm just finding things out for myself and I figured I'd pass it on. There is a quote that goes:
"Love is like a battle. If you win, you lose." Think about it and love will make a bit more sense. :)

The encrypted text that you thought were map coords have the same encryption and syntax as the encryption algorythm that my website uses for secure files. If you want to know how to decrypt it, you need to put a post up telling me so. If i said so here, i would be giving away the keys to my webserver data.

Yes, it is finally spring. It's definately official; last week my whole neighbor was mowing their lawns, and so even though spring started sometime in March, that really made spring official. I'm just sayin....

This is exactly WHY we need to help the earth,
to preserve its beauty. If we dont start NOW the earth will heat up, and those Daffodils will whilt and die away. The precious land that we take for granted will be a legend to our children and our children's children. Look at the way the trees branches are all at different angles, look at the way the sun hits the water perfectly, think of the way a fresh breeze can make your day, isn't this motivation enough? Together we can save this planet!
Oh and Fang i think that everything natural has a purpose and maybe yours is to spread the word and warn us about what we are doing to our home. Love is natural, and the amount of love you have for the flock is tremendous. ALSO the deeper love you have for Max and the deeper love she has for you might be the most natural thing ever. So no Fang, you are not unnatural your here for a reason which includes saving our planet, home of all nature.

So... I understand that this probably has nothing to do with what you just wrote that blog about... And depressingly, as much as I try, I'm pretty much failing miserably on keepin' up on the ole blog.
But I have a serious question for you, Fang. It'd be totally rad if you answered... Because it's been seriously bugging for the past... Week. Maybe more.
So, I just re-read the first book for about the zillionth time and I noticed one particular part where Max is talking about her paranoia and how she feels that she can't trust people, possibly her own flock, and she seems to aim her suspicions towards you.
Alright, so this sounds completely idiotic (but we've gone this far... Why not!), but I want to know... Are you evil? I certainly hope not... as that would most likely put a damper on things.

You are not alone. My name is Casper, and I am an Avian – Human Mutant. I use the word mutant in my case because although I am part avian, I am more malformed. I was a failed experiment and I was sent to be terminated, but I was forgotten and instead, put in a sensory deprivation tank. From what I could gather, It was five years before they remembered me, and discovered my potential. Some of the extra mutations were in my favour, such as improved vision in flight and retractable talons. It was another two years before I finaly escaped. I have been on the run for about three months now. I am currently in New York, but I am thinking of moving to a different location soon.

That was a very nice poem, and I so understand! We've had nothing but rain for weeks! And you're not queer. I spend most of my time outside, but after dark, I'm on the computer ALL NIGHT. I'm very glad it is spring, although here, it's practically summer already. Soon, I'll be so sick of NO rain, that I'll wish it was winter again, and so on and so forth.

Then at the first signs of spring my spirits start to lift and I have this new appreciation for life and the world. Like anything is possible. The sun shining, the green grass, the flowers blooming, the bird chirping, it makes me so proud to be alive. So happy that I have this life to live.
Like, no matter what life throws at me, I can beat it. As long as I have this life to live, and the beauty of nature that surrounds me, then I'll be fine. Nothing's impossible.

I love daffodils - I love yellow ones, yellow and orange ones, whitey yellow ones, whitey yellow and orange ones. I love all daffodils. You know, here in Ireland we got snow over the weekend, torrential rain and gale force winds. A few years ago, we even got snow in May, June or July (I can't remember which) ! I'll give you three guesses as to why this is
1) Global warming
2) Pollution, which causes global warming
3) More global warming
I guess it would be global warming.
Okay I couldn't think of anything to say this time so I guess that about cut it.

I still can't believe you wrote that Fang. You are AMAZING !!! You're a brilliant poet ! You know, you should write a poetry book and I would try to convince the teachers to use it in our english classes 'cos it would probably be a lot better than some of the dark, depressing poems we have to do in school.
By the way, I'm trying to get my school library to get your books for the school. Unfortunately, we can't take up any offers, etc. from your websites to get the books in schools to encourage reading and awareness of global warming as we're in Ireland. But I'm still trying to get them to get the books but the budget for the library is used up ! Ugghhhh !!! Anyway, I'll keep reminding the teacher that works in the library until she eventually gets them sometime next year. I really want everyone in my school to be more aware of the enviroment and reading. I also want to get people to LOVE the Maximum Ride series aswell.
One more thing, since I finished the fourth Maximum Ride book the other day, I wanted to read the Narnia books since the new movie is coming out soon and I want to catch up with the story, but as soon as I go to read it, I HAVE to go back to Maximum Ride. I'm addicted to the Maximum Ride books !!!
So now I haven't read a book in days and I'm going mad !!! I've also got too much homework so I haven't enough time for a book (Speaking of which homework) !! Aaaaaaaarrrrrggghh !!!!!
So another life story from me, myself and I. I better get going. It's 11:30 here in Ireland, I have school tomorrow and I don't have my homework done. My mum just gave out to me so excuse me if I scream again. AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHH !!!!!
