been a while...

Yeah, so maybe you kinda noticed we haven’t blogged in a while. And we’re sorry, but well, there’s a pretty good reason. You’re going to have to read about it in Patterson’s next book (yes, our 4th is still expected next spring) on the subject, but let’s just say it involved us being off-the-grid for a little stretch there . . . as in no Starbucks with wi-fi hotspots, no libraries with Internet access, no cell service, no electricity, no running water, nothing. In fact, we were on just about the most backwards, technology-forsaken continent on this planet. As in, think emperor penguins.

But we’re back in the U.S.A. now and, in fact, we swung through Hollywood and noticed this little thing in this magazine all the movie-moguls read. Check out what your five million clicks did. You guys rock!

Now just to cast James Earl Jones as my voice. Would you guys click another couple million for that? (Ouch, Max just punched me in the arm as I typed that.)

Okay, we’re learning it’s a very bad idea to stay in one place for too long, so we’re going to get moving. More soon, though.

My New Project

I've been trying to teach myself how to read and write braille recently. I'm getting pretty good at it!

If you take split peas and paste them to paper, it's like homemade braille.

Nudge is trying to be a full-out vegetarian, so we always have cans of them tucked away in backpacks and stuff. We didn't know you could buy them pre-split, so the first time we tried to write our names out in them, we tried cutting peas with a butter knife...and they kept rolling away or getting eaten.

I wonder if they have our book in braille at the bookstore?

Hi. I have always wanted to write a blog but I just don't know where to start. How do you think of things to write about? Is it like a journal where I can write whatever I want, but just lots of people can read it?

Good question, Tim. Here's a list-o-ideas.

1. Write about everyday stuff.

For me, that happens to be kicking Eraser butt and challenging societal norms, but I'm sure what happens in DC is just as interestingly awesome, so write about that. Stuff that happens in school, Gameboy, music, pizza...whatever you like is all game.

2. Get your friends to help.

Lots of bloggers operate solo, but I have a little help when I don't feel like talking. (If you know me at all, that happens more often that naught. <--Ha! I told Ig I would use that cliche in a sentence today! I win!!) 3. Snap some pics.

Sometimes words just aren't enough. I like to take pictures (when Nudge isn't, you know, BREAKING MY CAMERA by dropping it mid-air!!) when I can't express something with letters and numbers.

You don't need to be a famous photographer with some crazy-fancy camera, either. Try it.

4. Be random.

Be who you are! If you want to write about how much you, umm...love Swiss cheese, write it. Who cares if someone thinks it's lame? It's your blog, do what you want with it.

(Mmm. Cheese.)

5. Outreach.

When you have an idea, you should let people hear it.

...And that's why Itex is going down.

Cause my idea is that millions of kids my age read this blog every day, and they need to know that there's lots of stuff going on in our world that the adults in control can get away with doing, unnoticed. Stuff that's dangerous or bad for the environment. Stuff that they shouldn't be able to get away with. Like, making human/avian hybrid kids and keeping them in cages.

We may be "just kids," but that doesn't mean we're stupid.
