Well because most people can't comprehend that someone can work outside of a stereotype. Like, a quiet guy that wears black and obsessively writes a blog NOT being emo.
(And also because most fanfic writers are early-teen girls who don't know how to write boys so they just make them whiny and depressed like themselves.)

I have a question for you. So I was checking out my school's book fair, when I happened to see an area with your books. Of course I went over and freaked out, and bought a second copy of the 3rd book to match my first and second (I'm slightly OCD). Anyway. There were little sweepstakes fliers with the books. And they say that we can enter for a chance to win a spot in a future Max Ride story. And since Max Ride 4 is already written and published....... does that mean there will be more books?

It sucks i know. Its mainly because I like the band My Chemical Romance.
If someone asks me what’s my fave band is automatically I say “My Chem” and They then grab my arms and look at my wrist. They are very disappointed when they find nothing there.
It also happens to people who have black hair and are kind of quiet. It is horrible and you get bullied for just looking 'emo'.

Oi, anyone who disses "emo" is completely wrong. It's a genre of music that certain people listen to. That's all. A genre. No idea how it got to be anything else, but I searched it on Wikipedia.org and it came up with unexpected answers.
So thus, it's completely fine and cool to be "emo" in technical terms. Heck, according to them, I'M "emo"! (But, i guess someone could call me emo since I dyed my hair black and wear kind of punkish clothes.... and have pants with chains..... but a assumed emo would shout, "I JINGLE!" at the top of her lungs when she's wearing those pants in public. :P)

There's been a lot of misunderstanding with what that term means with kids these days.
No, your not emo, your just a little more thoughtfull and deep than the magority of the shallow fake people in the world today. Sorry, I'm not in a "love life" mood either at the moment, though I can bet it wasn't nearly as bad as yours.
I don't know, people seem to think that whenever someone been through a lot in their lives, or they're a little quiet, thoughtfull or maybe just not as cheery and "life loving" as the others; they're "emo". It's not really you, Fang. But if you look at all the stuff I just said of other people's impressions of emo, take it as a compliment (even though they're /way/ off). "Emo" is the shortened version of "Emotional" but people seem to think that it describes a person who wears all black and listens to depressing music.
Truth is, they're wrong.
People seem to call you "Emo" because of the way you act (I think), or maybe their imaginations are going haywire. But in reality everyone is "Emotional" at times so the consept of "Emo" should be applied to everyone. Even the cheerleaders at school or the really happy teachers who never seem to have a bad day.
Everyone is "Emotional".
So yes, you are "Emo" and so am I.
I guess it just makes sense when you look at it your own way.
