Fly On, USofA

Yo,

Bla bla bla politics. Bla bla bla politics.

That's how people feel about it sometimes right? How many of you can name the mayor of your city, your governor, your senator and your state representatives. How many of you can name the Secretary of State?

Tell me. Seriously. Name them if you can. I'm curious. And if you don't know them tell me why. (No judgment. I just want to know.)

My own political leanings aside. And believe me, I have them. It is our job to save the world and all. What a primary it's been. And as a voice of a disenfranchised rogue bird kid I'm pleased and proud that an African American man and a woman have shown their stuff as viable candidates for the American presidency.

This country was founded by diversity and religious freedom. Or at least the idea of diversity.... So when we live up to the standards we set for ourselves, it's the kind of thing that makes you stand up and feel a sense of pride. No matter who you support in the fall.

True, i won't lie that sometimes i don't care about politics. I'm not that involved, but i try to get as involved as possible. Thank you, maybe I'll try to be more involved with my politics. I am proud that an African America and a woman can run for president. But I think that Obama would make a good candidate. I just think that he would.

i actually know some names of important ppl but i cannot match them with job titles. But i am only a sophmore this coming year so i haven't atually been in a class where dicussions about politics and senate etc. have been talked about.

It's actually quite funny, i live in a republican based city/suburb yet ever since the first election for george W. bush, everyone i ask there opinions on him about, hates him and has hated all the republican candidates since then

i liked gore form the beginning, wether there's actually any base to that idea or not. Didin't like clinton or bush and hillary's a freako ^^ (and even tho i'm a girl all my other girl friends hate her to ahah)

I really didn't know you cared so much about politics seeing how you guys are always on the run and never really have time to investigate on what's going on in our world politically, but it's great to know that you care. I can't name the secretary of my state, but I am keeping up with the presidential primaries very well. I was happy when Clinton and Obama ran.

our town doesn't have a mayor [it's a realllllllly small town, trust me]our governor is some guy named sonny. idk his last name, but i think it's purdo or somethin like that.

I can't name them, sorry. If you want to look them up for me though, you could Google them--I live in Ohio. I think it's not so important as to what their NAMES are though as to what their DOING about all the issues our country faces. Because really, even if we're in different states of America, we're all facing the same national challenges, you know? I'm not slamming the individual states' rights--I'm all for them. But I can see that our country faces some...communication issues that could be solved if there was a big national conference of some sort in stead of our reps in Congress doing everything for us just because some "adults" (you know, no offense, but sometimes I feel my decisions could be as good or better than theirs...feel free to second me on that) trusted them with correctly representing and defending us as individuals.

All I really have to say when it comes to politics is that people's views are different from our political leaders'--even if we (or our parents) DID vote for them. I wonder if we could just throw reps out the window (figuratively of course, however funny it would be literally) and stick with a "majority wins" rule. THAT would simplify our system of government, even if it WOULD take a little longer. It would be more fair, and the minority could still be sure they were heard. They could still petition if they wanted.

I'll leave with this comment: Kids are the hope for the future. Adults have said that to me all my life. But in all my 14 years, I've never seen an adult so helpless that they couldn't start changing the world NOW so that their children wouldn't have to put out this fire on their own with no experience. You know?

But I did decent, right? I'm sick of politics too, especially because my weirdo friends spend a lot time talking about it. Personally, I am rooting for Obama for president. If he wins, it will be making HISTORY! First black president!

Well, history will be made if McCain wins too. Oh well.

I sometimes dont care about politcs because they seem to make some things so overly complicated when it could have such a simple solution.

I am glad that we have a african american and a women who have stepped up and took the challenge. I really hope that we dont have another tradtitional president becasue I believe that this country needs some serious adjustments.

On another note, how have you guys been? It took a while for you guys to post again.

nope, I can't...that's because my parents talk about politics (well the stuff in my town because my dad's on the Board of Education in our town) 24/7 practically so I usually just want to stay away from it as much as possible. But I do watch the Daily Show and the Cobert Report because it makes fun of politics....

If I had to take a guess I think it's Condelezza (or however you spell that) Rice, but that's just a guess.

I can tell you where the presidential candidates stand, and I can tell you loads more about political issues and where people stand in them, but I don't really care for who those people really are. That and the fact that I'm not even in High School...

yeah, that is pretty cool. I think there have been other women candidates, but Hilary Clinton is the most well known.and I doubt that there have been any black candidates before. Well frankly I do not care to know as our government is somewhat of a joke.Well I am no radical but from my view it would have been much better if everyone had listened to the great George Washington and avoided political parties.It is just another form of prejudism in the sense that you are either part of group or another.it is really rather like highschool.Well these are my thoughts, they could be wrong, they might be insightful, and they could be nonsense.Can't help what I think though.Oh yes and while I am very proud that a both a woman and a black man have finally entered the race for the presidency I cannot help bu think that if our political system were different still this phenomenon might've occurred years ago.Good question by the way.Sorry to take up so much space!!

Well, Secretary of State is Condelezza Rice. I don't think my town has a mayor but Philadelphia is Michael Nutter, My Governor is Ed Rendell (Yeah PA!!!), and I don't know the state reps or senator. OK, not bad, but I totally agree that more people should be interested in government. It is there for our good and if we don't care, what's the point???

I can name my 2 state senators and my local representatives. and my state's governor. the mayor is a little harder. I just dont pay attention to them, but I know the mayor of a big city where I live very close too. That good enough?

Personally, I barely even look at polotic related things, yet still I can give names to all of the people you described. Everyone needs to be more aware of their surroundings, less self centered and narsissic, and more involved in things that actually matter.

Hey, all you people who said "I don't really care" "i hate America" and all that other stuff! I just have a tiny question that I hope is inoffensive and isn't taken the wrong way by anyone:

ARE YOU TOTALLY INSANE?!?!?!

America is a proud example of democracy and YES we've made our share of mistakes, but people once had doubts about fighting in the REVOLUTION (yeah, there's that big word they keep repeating in history class again). People once ACCEPTED the idea of RACISM and SLAVERY (but we're working our way to tolerance and acceptance, thank goodness). People are STILL living in poverty and communism reigns over them because they don't know how or they CAN'T stand up for themselves. Well, news for you blog readers:

AMERICA IS TRYING TO STOP THAT. (shocker, ain't it?)

YES we will continue making mistakes, but (here's another shocker for ya) if you take the time to LEARN, CONCERN YOURSELF, and STOP SITTING AROUND WITH YOUR HEAD STUCK IN THE STATE OF MIND THE MEDIA'S LIES PUT THEM IN, maybe you could prevent some of the future mistakes, you know? Another no offense moment: stop being so self absorbed and whiny about mistakes our country is making unless you are willing to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

True, I can't name a whole lot of the whatever people, it's pretty obvious that not many kids care enough to know their names. It has been quite interesting watching all the candidates and their campaigns lately. I wish we'd get someone who really was the best candidate for president. Nothing against the candidates, but each one always has the one flaw that turns a lot of people against them. My class had a discussion about this before school ended, and a lot of people (especaially girls) agreed that we need someone who cares abotu the environmetn as much as all the other things. I guess it'll be up to you guys to save the world then, no president ever could.

No, I didn't look those up, and I am one of the the few highschool kids that would know that. I get your point Fang, we should be interested in the going's on of government. I agree with you totally and completely. I've been following the election and its a very interesting race and obviously more people should be informed about it in order to make an informed decision in November. Just as in example today in my public speaking class, as our finals we were assigned certain debate topics and the group that was going up to debate today had the Iraq war. Regardless of my personal feelings on the issue I was appalled at how completely ignorant people can be, especially highschoolers. The person who was arguing the side for the Iraq war started off by saying that we went to Iraq to "get those people who bombed us" and it just went downhill from there. he went on to say that we're getting closer to finding Saddam Hussein and that he was the one who instigated the 9/11 attacks. I wanted to scream at him that Saddam is DEAD and he's been dead for a while now. It was pretty big news when they found him in a ditch hiding away a couple of years ago! We went into Iraq because of the supposed "weapons of mass destruction" that were being assembled in Iraq after Saddam Hussein refused to let UN weapons inspectors in.

In all honesty people should see it as there duty to educate themselves because that is really the only way they can make a decision for themselves about what they believe in. Kids should care about what is going on in the world because it is indefinitely important to the future of our country.

I think that half of why Obama and Clinton have made it this far is because of what you said:

One is a woman and the other is and African American man. I mean, its like people only vote for them because people think that others will hate them if they vote the person that they really want to vote for, and if it isn't Obama or Clinton, people will send them hatemail and start to say "down with you!" You know?

I, personally, wouldn't vote for any of the candidates this year, even if I could. Because they all have either something I like, but everything else I hate, or I just plain hate everything they say. They can be real butt-heads, too. The people who count votes and ask for people TO vote called my mother and asked, "May we please speak to the MAN of the house? We think the men would be more interested and would know more, logically, about the candidates." I'm like, uh, hello! You are a sexist jerk! She hung up on them, too. I also checked the company name. It was even the real deal! Please, excuse my French, but what jerks. They think that the females would be less smart than the males. If you read carefully and listen to the calls they send you, you already have your evidence...

That is why I am not into politics. I like other things way better, like animals and treasure hunting. Which is quite fun, actually. You never find anything though, unless you do it right...

You guys should go treasure hunting and use what you find to get money. You could use the money for when you guys are on the run. If you save money, I bet you could go to one of those GOOD panning places, where people have gotten lucky enough to find lots of good stuff, like rubies, emeralds, diamonds, or gold.

I've been to one of the fake panning stations and it sucked because they PUT stuff into the dirt. I have proof. I found a really pretty crystal in the panning dirt once. Guess what it had on it... a freaking "MADE IN CHINA" sticker on it.

How cheap.

About the presidential canidates;
Obama- some people are just voting for or against him because of his race. I agree with a lot of what believes and says.
Hilary- same as Obama, but for her gender, or just because they liked or disliked her husband. I'm a girl, but personally don't like her views on a number of subjects. McCain- He's what I would call a "typical president". He, I believe, wouldn't change so much of what's going on.

Right now I think our country is doing just fine as it is and we don't need an impulsive president to change everything (*cough Hilary). So I think everyone should just put their prejudices aside and vote for whose views they think would benefit our country. I just wanted to put that out there.

Oh, and for the government officials, yes I do know them, but this comment is getting kind of long.

Politics I know nothing about. I wish I did know more... you know? Had the attention span to watch the news, be interested in politics. However, I'm so used to (and attached to) watching other things on TV, going on the computer, or going to the mall/movies... you know, teenage stuff. My generation (lol, my fellow 17 year olds) isn't the generation of politicians, and that's because we weren't brought up to be. I know only a handful of my peers who even know, let alone care, about the political system in-depth.

Sure, we know there is an African American and a woman running for top position (well, not anymore, since Clinton is out), but do I know either side's views (talking McCain and OBama here)? No. So taking a side wouldn't even seem fair from my ignorant point of view! What gets me is that so many adults are just like me. So many adults who are actually GOING to vote and have a chance to sway the ballot! They're voting for a side they can't defend, because defending it would be you'd have to have knowledge of the opinions!

I think schools should talk about it more in class... like require it in a Current Politics class or something. I'd feel like much less of an idiot right about now ;).

And, I have to say the whole of politics seems utterly ridiculous to me. If I wanted to watch a bunch of liars try to make themselves look good I'd watch Gossip Girls or Laguna Beach - at least they're not going to be in charge of our country [shudder].

And I know that was quite a rant, but you asked for it, Fang, and I'm glad you managed to incorporate real issues into your blog for us readers to interact with and consider on a higher level (well, at least I did).

Mayor? I should know, but I don't. I don't pay attention to city-wide politics, mostly just the big kahunas.
Governor? Dang, that's easy. The Governator, Ahnold!
Senator? Either Barbara Boxer or Elaine Alquist.
Representatives... I might be wrong, but I think they're Dianne Feinstein and/or Barbara Boxer (if she's not the senator).
Secretary of State, don't know. I do know a couple, but it changes, and I don't try to keep up every year.

Off the top of my head.
We're not all as dumb as you think we are. And just because a few can't name names doesn't mean politics is lost. It's the ideas that matter in politics, not the names.
Think about it, and don't judge people just because our memory may be bad.
I can tell you what our country stands for at the moment. What the majority of our country believes in. I can't name the whole House of Representatives, but why does that matter? It doesn't.
I know politics enough to know that McCain and Obama are dishing everything out, and that Hillary is sulking for the VP spot. And I know politics enough to know that this is going to be a good race and after everything is said and done, I'm curious as to who will finally win.

So don't judge by the names.

I know most of my reps and governers name etc. I think it's a little over the top. You wanted a reason fang here it is-I am not that involved in the inner political working of my county sate or country therefore I do not feel the need to memorize the names of each member
I am pro-obama but want Hilary to be some part of the government, maybe as a supreme court justice? She is too samrt and has too much knowledge of the inner workings of the white house to just be tossed aside.
The only place to go from here is up. However since the American name is trash is mos other countries I believe we need to work on our own issues. The only way to go is up

I do have to say, it does make me feel proud, though I wouldn't agree with a lot that Cliton and Obama say. It is nice to think that whatever happened before, the poeple of the US have created a place where a black man and a white woman can stand a chance, and more, to become the leader. When people lable you as emo, why don't you, like, give a bigger explaination as to why not, that way you would never be mis-labled that way again?

First of all, the best lable anyone could give you is INTROVERT. It fits you way better, look it up on wikipedia. It practicly describes your character, except they don't put in how you have wings and are unbelievably hott, but close enough. Itroverts are quiet, don't talk much, enjoy time alone and in their heads, they do not respond much to external stimuli, so its harder to get their emotions worked up.

Emos,which is usually the abrieviation of "emotinally unstable", in sceintific terms, would most easily be described as someone who is covered in black, and has (or acts like they have) Borederline Personality Disorder. They claim they have horrible lives, even if their childhood was relativly normal. You, Fang,who actaually DID have a horrible childhood, do not complain, you take it. The kids with BPD, blow up, and have an emotional fit when the tinniest thing happens(for attention of course).

But you, Fang, are the opposite of emotionally unstable. But because half of your blog readers are bound to be teenagers who think everything is emo and know nothing about Borederline Personality Disorder, and the whole theory of Introverson/Extroversion, do not understand who your character is made out to be.

Putting the word "Fang" and "Emo" in the same sentance is practically an oxymoron.

We're waiting for the result of the Lisbon Treaty to come out later today.
I hope the result is "no" as taxes will be increased significantly and Ireland will no longer be a neutral country. We will have to go to war.

I think there are many downsides to the Lisbon Treaty.

France and Germany were not allowed to vote. They had no choice. Ireland is a smaller country and we can vote so we are very lucky.

I really think that teenagers should be allowed to vote as they're deciding our future because we're younger. We should decide what we want our future to be like.
If the result comes out as "yes" and if there's a war, it's US that will have to go to war, not adults !
I think that teenagers from the age of 16 up should be able to vote as by the time we're 16 we are mature enough to vote.
I've asked my friends and they all agree about teenagers being allowed to vote for their future.

Wow ! I didn't know I could talk about politics for so long as I'm not that interested in it.

I can't name the Secretary of State but I can name the Secretary of Defense -- Condalisa Rice (SHE ROCKS!!!)

I don't know our representatives or our senate here, but I am getting more invovled with the presidential election.

You said that your proud that a African American Man and a woman are running. But since Hilary Clinton has like no money to run her campane people are already throwing her out of the race. So that now people are only focused on Obama and McCaine. And I really don't like either fo them. McCaine does seem kinda old to be doing the whole presidential election thing, and with the War on Terror still going who knows what it will do to him. (I am referring to the before and after math of Lincoln before and after the Civil War. He only aged 7 years but it looked more like 15-20 years. It was because of all the stress from the War and trying to preserve the Union.

Then Obama says that he can bring 5 million jobs. HOW THE HECK IS HE GOING TO DO THAT? Last time I checked 5 million jobs was a lot. To give 5 million jobs factories and businesses would have to be built and aren't people trying to stop factory building to help save the Earth. So that idea seems to have a dead end I think.

Well I have some more opinions but it would take forever for me to write them, so I'll just stop now before I start babbling none stop.

I live in the Uk but I was obssessed with the primary race. And truthfully I didn't have a favourite since whether Clinton or Obama, I think the people progressed forward. And even if the Democratic Party isn't elected, all of this still made it historical.

As for your question I can't tell you much about the Senators in most of the States over there, but here I can tell you more about the UK political scene. The mayor of London right now is a man called Boris Johnson, who politics aside, has the wierdest head of hair I have ever seen. Check it out!

But I try to get involved when i can, it is just something that isn't so intersting.....

The mayor is Tony Roswarski, my governor is Mitch Daniels, i don't knoe my senator/state representatives, the secretary of state is Condeleeza Rice (I'm not sure is I spelled that right)

Why are people making such a big deal out of this, we already had two black people run for president: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. I vote republican.

I know that. Thats what we learn in school. Well thats what they teach at mine. The United States is called the melting pot for a reason. And I don't about everyone else, but I am proud of the country I live in, and am proud of the cultures I come from. Because they are what makes me an American.

Im only sixteen... so i know some of what is going on with the presidential canidates... And here they are.
1. Barrack Obama- He is not muslim as recently thought, he brings the new world into old ideas, and the keep ragging on what his wife is doing, and he wants the public to leave his wife alone. (which is impossible cuz shes on tour with your buddy) Personally i like him the best.

2. Hillary Clinton- Well She was a Canidate until last week when she suspended her campaign. Now they are talking about her being VP for Obama. That would reall be Historic. But I think people are judging hillary because of her husband. which is not right.

3. John McCain- He is stuck in the old ways. And i dont honestly beleive he will be willing to change anything for this country. So to keep the ranting to a minimum. He would be the next Bush.

And Kathleen Sebelius is Kansas's (my home state) Governor. I like her but i know nothing about her.

Bush president (YUck) Cheeney VP i belive. and that is a far as i go.

Alright, I have to admit that i have never really taken a liking to getting to kno our government. I only kno that our govener is Janet Nepolatano or something like that and our senetor is John McCain but thats about it. I have just been preoccupied with other things to get to kno who is running our state. But after your post i think i will take that into consideration.

Can't name the mayor becuase I've never even heard of him/her doing anything and I've never heard anything about an appointment of one.
Govonor Grandholm is still in office I think. (I hope I spelled that right.
Can't name representatives or senetors. Never heard of anyone running lately, or winning for that matter.
Sec. of State is C. Rice, right?
I really think Obama is going to win this one. It's a shame that Clinton is dropping out.

i can't name most of those things, but I do know the Secretary of State of Oklahoma, M. Susan Savage.
I'm not really into state politics, but huge into everything else. It's cool that Obama is going for it, but some of his ideas and stuff aren't that great. I'm kinda on McCain's side.He's not running away from finishing the job in Iraq, which is not a total failure.
The media only wants us to think that, a lot of good things happen too!

wow, our last test in school was the Illinois Constitution test. Me and my friends still shout out at random times: "1818!" "Land of Lincoln!" "Springfield!" ect.
So I know some of them...
Mayor: Mayor Daley
Governor: Rod Blagojevich (what a name!)
Senators: Barack Obama and Richard Durbin
Representatives: Ummm, well, there are 14 of them. Mr. L let that question slide.
Secretary of State: Jesse White (My friend always gets him and Jesse Owens mixed up)
Ok, so I got almost all of 'em. I'd say that's pretty good.

You know, Obama said that if it came to it, he would stand by Muslims and not Americans.....it's curious that didn't get any media attention, since Muslims bombed us and all....



He also said that if his daughter got pregnant, he wouldn't want to ''punish her with a child.'' That shows his view on the youth of America.......






He also said that the only people who wouldn't vote for him are ''religious nuts'' who ''cling to their guns.'' If it was pretty much anyone else who said that, the media would have been all over it. If they talked about that half as much as they talked about how much they hated Bush, Obama would not have made it this far....

For our political election we elect Iggy as being smokin' and Fang as being smexy!

We are fans of Total! He is the cutest little dude in the entire world [except for Gazzy, of course].

And we envy Nudge cause she is technologically-smart and we are just ... well, us, and we can sometimes not find the shift key.

Angel, of course, is Angel... and Angel is just the most lovable person EVER [even with her freaky mind powers, she is still lovable].

And Max - she's the leader, so it goes unsaid how she rules.

And about the politics part? Um, no clue who like any of those people are. Boys and the flock's blog updates are more important at this point in life.

ive heard of a log cabin in canida perfict for you on chase lake or somthin' its so out of the way that cell phones dont work the only way to get there is buy plane and best of all its a rented cabin the people that stay there leave there food behind or if somones there nearby there is ruins of a old hunters cabin.
