Hey, nameless anon at 10:55/58, just 'cause you're part peregrine doesn't automatically mean you can fly fast. Matthew is peregrine extract (versus my red-tail); you'd probably say he was more than 3%--whatever the hell that means--and he can still only pour on the speed when he's got appropriate height.
Come on, these guys aren't stupid, and neither are the rest of us readers. Give us some freakin' credit.

According to Matthew, Peregrines' long, narrow wings allow them speed, but little else. They can reach up to 390 mph when stooping, but that's utilizing the propellant force of gravity (in other words, their momentum from falling). In straight, powered flight, they can achieve speeds of over a hundred miles an hour.
So they can fly fast, but they're not agile and they can't soar. Since Matthew's peregrine extraction, he's got the same strengths and limitations--though his mass obviously has an effect on what, exactly he can do.

Oh, one more thing. . . . You are famous!!! I've had two or three dreams when I was flying (just barely, there was this hurricane and I couldn't move my wings real easily, yada yada yada, but the point is, it was so totally awesome!!! Even though they were only dreams, those were the best dreams I've ever had in my life! Also, my mom read The Lake House and she thought it was good so I'm checking out When the Wind Blows and the Maximum Ride Series for her from the library!! But my sister won't even look at the maximum ride books because she thinks it's too kiddish :( I mean, she's only 7 freaking years older than I am and I'm the same height and fit into her clothes!
Okay, now I'm really rambling. . . please neomail me, MATG (Max and the gang. that's what I'm calling you guys now ^^)
it's ok fang i mean id eat that too! and theres nothing wrong with eating alot or having an apetite! i mean i eat alot, but then my dad makes me run it off! ur so luky u dont hav parents! and my sister who's only eight and half my size broke my arm when she through an atlas at it! ohhhhhhhhhh!

i'm 2% bat but ive overheard them making me with 1% vampire dna. I don't know why but that's probaly why I can't get up in the morning but stay up till 3:00 a.m. I also think im somthing else because i went faster than light a couple of times.( bats cant do that)
